Paws is one of the 12 puppies born of a very special litter for me, my Heritage litter, which combines 3 of my own males (Rebelle, Aramis and Tornado) but also two of the greatest H litters from 20 years ago: The French litter of Hapache & Hermine des Monts d'en Crouzille and the American litter of Hubert, Handsome, Hollywood, Hallmark de Lindeau (out of Onassis du Clos des Cedres). It is a true privilege to be able to combine those pedigrees in this litter.

Paws is a tremendously beautiful little girl, with a superb silhouette. Her beautiful front and neck assembly allows her to proudly carry her nice head. Pigmentation could not be any darker. And I love her long tail (thank you Daddy Aramis) with that nice J that seems to be disappearing from the breed nowadays.

I have great hopes for my little black beauty. Time will tell.

Paws is growing up into such a beautiful and very feminine girl. We have not gone to many shows, but managed to get reserve to a major for her first show and then to win the Sweepstakes at the Harrisburg Specialty Show in April 2013. She is a very proud girl, full of life and happiness.

Paws went to the BCA Regional Specialty shows in Canfield in August and won two 4 points majors, including a specialty major and another specialty major reserve. She looked fabulous with Greg Strong as her handler in the ring. I was thrilled to watch her so feminine and elegant, yet mighty. Paws then completed her American Championship with ease.

Paws returned to the show ring for the 2014 Harrisburg Specialty Shows where she was BOS at the Regional Specialty and Select bitch for the 3 other days, bringing home 4 majors towards her Grand Championship. We also took a rapid trip up to Canada to the National Specialty where Paws won reserve Winners bitch.

In August 2014, not quite 2 and a half years old, Paws went to the 2014 US National Specialty and got Selected at the Rassemblement under French Breeder Judge Jacky Dillies. We are very proud of our young girl.

Paws is maturing into a stunning girl with great body and a so, so, typey silhouette, with beautiful proportions, solid topline, beautiful head, long neck and a nice J tail.

Paws is the mother of our 2015 litter and gave us a gorgeous litter of 9 black and tawny puppies. Out of this litter we kept our ms Lily. Paws was a great mother with her babies. This litter completed her mental and physical development and she truly has reached the state of Grande Dame in the family.

In 2018, Paws had a second and last litter, as a line breeding back into the Monts d’en Crouzille part of her pedigree with Fr Ch Louxor des Monts d’en Crouzille. Three puppies were conceived, 2 girls and 1 boy. Mr Oxford was born handsome with that huge head, beautiful long arched neck and that gorgeous black coat. We knew he was special from birth and could not see Oxford simply be a family dog. Oxford (add link to his page) is therefore with us and we are thrilled to have him with his mother and half sister Lily at home.

Despite getting up in age, Paws still rules the house and makes sure that the “kids” do not bicker !

As I have to write the last paragraph of our dearest Paws’ life, a single sentence summarizes Paws: Bigger than Life. Paws has been a magical girl at our house: The queen of the kingdom, the absolute ruler of the house, always full of self-confidence, aware of it all and keeping all in check, and absolutely dedicated and loving her human family. She was mentally the strongest and physically would have defended us all to her own death. She has been the truest briard ever and never will the house be the same without her. And as karma has it, as Paws declined very rapidly, her own daughter Occitane came in season ahead of schedule. Therefore, we reorganized all schedules to breed Occitane and have a Paws’ granddaughter to carry Paws’ succession. While males have been my favorites over the years, Paws topped them all, especially after her first litter. We developed a new relationship, sitting days and nights together raising puppies. Paws matured to Queen as a mother. We had that unique sense of “I know exactly what you think and feel” about each other. I will always love you and always miss you, Pawsey.
