Oxford was the one male of Paws second litter. He was born the most handsome black puppy with a huge head, long, strong neck and a gorgeous coat. We knew he was a special puppy from birth and had to be presented to the fancy. Since no show home presented itself, Oxford stayed with us and the rest is history.
Oxford grew as we thought he would and was recognized at specialties where he obtained his majors from the puppy class. He and I have won multiple OH group 1s. He also won a herding group, the first time he was shown as a special in 2021 and became a Grand Champion over the course of the 2021 National Specialty weekend. Not only Oxford exemplifies all the attributes of a great briard, his temperament is gold. He is a sweet and gentle male. He passed his CGC as a puppy and has a strong desire to work with me. Therefore we will attempt to participate in rally, something that will offer us a working environment.
Oxford has been doing many different things over the summer of 2022 and he has excelled in all of them: He has now passed two Rally titles (RN and RI) and is working on the off leash RA level as well as novice obedience. He has gone to the sheep farm and demonstrated with brilliance that his ancestral genes are impeccable and obtained his IT (Herding Instinct) and his FDC (Farm Dog) titles over one weekend. The FDC is really a mixture of an advanced temperament test and entry level obedience. We are both learning through all of this, since I had never trained nor participated in any of those types of competitions. This is fun !!!! In parallel, occasionally we attend the local MA shows and Oxford has now earned his GCHB level in Owner Handled and is only a few points away from his regular AKC GCHB. We also took a road trip to Canada, attended 1 weekend of shows and came back home with Oxford’s Canadian Ch title but winning the Breed over specials and placing in a very strong herding group.
2023 has been a fantastic year for Oxford: Westminster BOB, Canadian National Specialty BOB, #1 Briard in Canada, 1st AOM at the US National Specialty and he also achieved his AKC GCHB.
