Calice
comes from a tight breeding half brother to half sister on
"Just for Fun". Justie was one of the top producing bitches
for Corinne de Brouwer, breeder of Calice. Having known Talis
and Taboo since they were young and seen them at shows in
France, I knew this was a combination I would hope to get
a puppy from. So came Calice from France.
Calice is a striking bitch. When she moves, your eyes will
not stop observing her floating gait. She has a magnificent
reach, and a very balanced drive. Calice always stands perfectly
on her own. She has a gorgeous coat. She is a very active
girl, always looking for fun and play. We believe she has
strong herding instinct and is very prey driven. Soon we will
test her at the Raspberry Farm on sheep to see what she thinks
of those creatures.
In the
show ring, Calice is not the most excited as it is too much
restraint for her. Despite that, she has been noticed time
after time for her clean and beautiful construction and amazing
side gait. She went Reserve Winners Bitch at her second show
at the 2008 BCA Harrisburg Specialty Show. But the icing on
the cake and the big honors came in September, at the 2008
US National Speciaty show, where she won an extremely competitive
12-18 month old class and then went on winning Winners Bitch
and then Best of Winners. It is really sad that the show photographer
took such bad shots…..
Calice finished her championship early 2009 and has stayed
home for the most part, waiting to mature. She has an incredibly
beautiful, rich, tawny color and is looking fabulous. In 2010,
she was Selected at the US Rassemblement.
Her brother, Jag, and sister, Croq'epine, have been out and
about at shows in Europe and both finished their French Championship,
which is quite a tribute to that litter. Jag also won BOB
at Crufts in 2011.
In 2011, Calice traveled to Paris with Sage and she too participated
at the Championnat de France and the World Dog Show. She obtained
RCACS at the Championnat de France for her first time in the
ring in France, coming out of a very large open tawny bitch
class. For the World Dog Show (WDS), males and females were
judged in parallel in separate rings and as a consequence,
I was unable to show her. A friend of mine took her in and
Calice received an excellent rating. More importantly, she
participated with her brother Jag, sister Croquepine and half-sister
Baboo, at the breeder group competition of the WDS and…. their
group won the 1st place in the herding group breeder group
competition. They looked fabulous, forming a very homogenous
family and presenting themselves in a very calm and coordinated
manner. It was simply beautiful to see the tawny briards on
the blue carpet.
Calice
is a superior quality female and we most certainly hope she
passes on her magnificent attributes. We plan on breeding
her in the second half of 2011.
